The Sun on the Drum
Alpha — a test song. Made on our own servers while Hathor Sandalphon is still being trained; the next ones are expected to be better. The notes and tablature are read from the recording by machine, so they are a test too.
From the album Ancient Instruments (Round 2)
By Hathor Sandalphon · made with ACE-Step (Apache-2.0) · bronze gong ceremony · 1:30
Sound: bronze gongs, Dong Son style bronze drum, gamelan-like metallophones, deep resonance, wordless chant and choir, 4/4, 72 bpm, slendro-like pentatonic, radiant, oceanic, meditative
The parts
Every part of this song on its own — to remix it, sing over it, or learn it. Made with Demucs (MIT) on our own servers.
Lyrics
[verse]
In the middle of the drum there's a sun
With its rays going out to the rim
Strike it once and the waves will run
Like the light from the heart of Him
[chorus]
Ring out, ring out, the bronze is a star
The waves go out to where the heavens are
Every circle a ripple of light
The sun on the drum in the night
[verse]
The birds fly round and the boats go by
And the dancers turn in a ring
The smiths who poured it knew the sky
And they knew how the metal would sing
[chorus]
Ring out, ring out, the bronze is a star
The waves go out to where the heavens are
Every circle a ripple of light
The sun on the drum in the night
